about Graz
Graz is the second largest city in the country, yet it is often overlooked by visitors, who are better interested in Vienna or Salzburg. However, Graz is a city worth exploring. Its rich history, glorious architecture and interesting spots make it a truly charming city. Furthermore, Graz is one of the cities that retain Austrian folk traditions. Graz was born out of a stronghold. It name comes from the Slavic word "gradec" - which means a small fortress. Later on, the town became the seat of the Habsburgs and gained loads of imperial power. Reminders of the city's glorious past today are the beautiful Eggenberg Castle and the splendid Glockenspiel.
