The capital of Fyn, Odense is a lively town with more than 10 centuries of history, beautifully preserved old quarters and cobblestone streets and an array of cultural sights and museums. Theatres, cafes and galleries also abound. The city lies in the heart of the island amid spectacular rolling countryside. Named after the Nordic God of Hospitality - Odin, Odense is one of the country hottest cultural spots. It is famed for being the birthplace of the famous Dane - Hans Christian Anderson. His house is now a museum. The whole area around is full of old world charm, cobblestone streets and lace-curtain houses.
