about Hannover
Set in the heart of northern Germany, Hanover is the cultural and administrative centre of Lower Saxony. Its central setting makes the city a key commercial and transport centre. Home of Volkswagen, Hanover is best known as the city of fairs. It annually hosts numerous important international fairs. Hanover's history dates back to the 1200 and during the centuries it has been closely linked with Britain. Present Hanover is famous above all for its zoological and botanical gardens, although some historic buildings and churches do indeed deserve attention.
