about Pescara
Situated in Italy's Abruzzo Region, Pescara is a modern trade and industry centre. Its name comes from the Latin word for fish, which refers to its position on the mouth of Pescara River. Although Pescara does not have the architectural abundance that other Italian cities do, it compensates with excellent beaches and seafront. The city is also a gateway for the Apennine Mountains, which offer a number of good ski and winter sport facilities. Annually, Pescara organises the popular Premio Ennio Flaiano awards, which attract a large number of visitors.
