about Naples
Naples appears to be a living controversy - it's where opposites meet
to create a what might very well be regarded as a true image of Life
itself. It's a bustling, terribly noisy and deafening place to be in,
especially on weekdays - there is a multitude of people buzzing to and
fro around the huge variety of places to visit and shop. Despite
the changes that this third-largest Italian city has undergone during
the last 120 years, there is still a reasonable amount of truth in the
description Cook has given of Naples in his 1884 Tourist's Handbook.
Still, as he himself admits, Naples is one of the loveliest spots in
Europe - one's vitality is surely to be boosted by the colourful
characters and their sheer zest, once there.
