about Parma
Parma
Considered an architectural masterpiece, Parma is an Italian city with an atmosphere of its own. The town is part of the Emilia Romagna region, and its terrain is divided in two by a little stream that bears the same name.
It boasts interesting religious architecture that's worth visiting while staying there. We recommend the Romanesque Cathedral with a 12th Century sculpture and a fresco from the 16th Century. Another landmark is the Baptistery, built next to the cathedral and begun in 1196 by Antelami. The locals cherish the Church of Saint John the Evangelist of Parma, that attracts with the beauty of its Baroque façade. It was in 1520 that Correggio frescoed the dome with the popular Vision of St. John the Evangelist.
