about Abano Terme
Abano Terme
Attracting mostly health-conscious tourists, Abano Terme is a small resort in the province of Padua, in the Veneto region in Italy. The town is set on the eastern slope of the Colli Euganei and less than a dozen kilometers from from Padua. Abano Terme is popular for its hot springs and mud baths, where the waters have a temperature of 80C.
We recommend you visit a couple of the sights that are worth your time and attention. Start with the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, which dates back to 1780. The Bell Tower of the temple has parts from the 9th, 10th and 14th Centuries.
The Montirone Gallery is where tourists and locals alike spend pleasant hours admiring the works of II Moretto, Guido Reni, Palma the Younger, Giandomenico Tiepolo and others.
The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute, built in 1428, is another site that should be included in your sightseeing tour. Pay attention to its Baroque portal, beautiful bell tower and presbytery frescoes.
If you like religious sightseeing, we also recommend the Convent of San Daniele, which is several kilometers away from the city, and the Abbey of Praglia, rebuilt between 1496 and 1550. Don't miss the Renaissance Church of the Assunta and the four-cloister complex.
