Founded in 997, Trondheim is Norway's early capital. The city is located in the west of the country on the 80-mile Trondheimfjord. It is a vibrant University town and Norway's high tech hub. The town also offers a lively arts and music scene. Trondheim is dominated by the beautiful Nidaros Cathedral, where Norwegian kings are crowned to this day. This is why many refer to Trondheim as the city of Kings. The town is an excellent destination for biking enthusiasts. There are a number of good bike trails. In addition, the town offers a 130 metres bicycle lift to Brubakken hill.
