about Porto
Situated in the north of Portugal, Porto is the second largest city in the country. It is best known for its wine growing region. Port wine derives its name from this city and is known to be very sweet and velvet-coloured. Port wine is made in the mountain region along the Duoro River. Tourists are welcomed at the Harvest Parties, when the grape is crashed. Another interesting attraction is also the oak wine barrels in the caves along the Duoro. Apart from the wine, Porto offers beautiful nature and is the perfect spot for relaxation. Check also the famed bridges into Vila Nova de Gaia.
