about Windsor
Windsor is not only the largest inhabited castle on earth but also one of the most impressive and magnificent examples. Erected in the 1070 by William the Conquerer, the castle was altered during the years by the different rulers. It lies in 13 acres of stunning landscaped garden and looks much like a small walled town. Within the castle is situated the splendid St George's Chapel, which was built in 1475 by Edward the forth. Its interior features carved wooden stalls and fan vaults. Windsor is also the site of a number of royal tombs among which those of Henry VIII and Prince Albert.
