about Swansea
Swansea
Swansea is a city and county in Wales that's the secondmost populous city in the country after Cardiff. It was during the 18th and 19th Centuries that the city was changed beyond recognition due to heavy industrialization. It's thought that the name of the town was given at the time when the Vikings settled along the South Wales coast. Its founder is believed to have been the Viking King of Denmark, Sweyn Forkbeard.
The beaches at Langland, Caswell and Limeslade are reccommended to families with children and swimmers, while Swansea Bay is appealing for water-sports. Enthusiasts keen on hiking are lucky to find lovely coastal paths and beautiful mountain landscapes. For your leisure time, you can head for the former fishing village of Mumbles, where tourists enjoy its Victorian pier and cozy restaurants and cafes.
