Geography of Andorra

A small landlocked country, Andorra is situated in the western part of Europe, in the eastern Pyrenees Mountains. It is bordered by Spain and more specifically Catalonia region, and France districtd of Northern Catalonia and old Occitania. Once quite poor and isolated, today Andorra is a modern and prosperous country thanks to its tourism sector and the fact that no tax is implied on the income. The mountains are cut by three valleys that are quite narrow and merge into one valley where Valira River flows. The climate is temperate and very similar to that of Spain and France.
Andorra has 468 square kilometres of territory and comprises of seven parishes, namely in alphabetical order Andorra la Vella, Canillo, Encamp, Escaldes Engordany, La Massana, Ordino and Sant Julia de Loria. Being part of the eastern Pyrenees, Andorra mainly comprises of mountains with average height of 1.996 meters and the highest peak being Coma Pedrosa.
The summer months tend to be cool, while the winter months come with a lot of snow. Andorra is inhabited by Andorrans, Spaniards, French and British people, Portugese, Italians. A strange fact would be that the native people of Andorra have the highest human life expectations on the Earth, which on average is 83.5 years. The population is predominantly Roman Catholic. The national language is Catalan.
